Net Impact Seattle’s Book Club next read focuses on where your food actually comes from

net impact seattle eventsThe next Book Club meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 from 6:30 – 9:00 pm. We’re reading “The Omnivore’s Dilema” by Michael Pollan. If you’re at all interested in agri-business and how our food is sourced today, this is a must read!

RSVP for this event by sending an email to veena@veenasmarket.com

Veena Prasad, Net Impact member and founder of Veena’s Market will host the next Book Club discussion. Veena’s Market creates recipe kits that allow you to cook your own authentic Indian food. The kits include all the specialty ingredients such as spices in just the quantities you need and a recipe that really works. The focus currently is on Indian recipes but Moroccan and Ethiopian kits are on the way.

Dinner will feature dishes made using the recipe kits and Veena will have sample spice blends for those who attend!

This book is what started it all for me – it was the beginning of my commitment to eating socially and environmentally responsibly, and I highly recommend it to everyone who eats. Can’t wait to have a great conversation about it with the Net Impact folks! (and I can’t wait to check out Veena’s Market, too!)

I agree Amy! The book not only awakened a new consciousness, it really got me to act. I’ve changed the way I do grocery shopping, cooking and even eating out at restaurants.
